The most important thing after you’re in a bicycle accident is to make sure you’re okay. Take some time, make sure you are okay, especially if you’ve had any kind of impact to your head. If your helmet is cracked, you hit the pavement. Even if it’s not cracked and you’ve hit the pavement, give yourself some time. Hopefully, you’re riding with some other friends. They can assess you. They can take care of your bike. They can have you sit down and really make sure you’re okay before you do anything else. After you’re okay, call for whatever medical treatment you need or get there the best way you can. The doctor is the most important thing. After you’ve taken care of your medical situation, gotten care that you need, you’re assessed, treatment plan is started, you have to make a police report. It’s very important that the police are notified. Identify the driver, get their information. You may be hurt and shook up and not able to do that yourself. So hopefully you’ve got some friends or the police will do it. It’s also important to have a police report. You must do that to make an insurance claim if the other driver is not insured. If you have an uninsured motorist situation, you have to have a police report in order to pursue that claim. So that’s another vital thing to do to make sure the police are involved. Take care of your health. Let the lawyer do the rest of the work. Do not worry about what you might have to do for pursuing a claim or anything like that. You’re going to be occupied with your health and that’s the number one thing. So, put that number one on your list and do that. Let the lawyers do the rest of the case. After your medical situation is stable, call the lawyers because a lot of times you need a very prompt, thorough investigation of what happened. You need somebody to get out there as soon as possible to look at the scene to find witnesses and make sure that that’s documented, it’s measured, it’s photographed so that you can make that claim. It’s vital to get the lawyers involved right away so you’re protected.
