If you find toxic mold in your unit, you should first take photographs and videos of the mold to document it. After you take photographs, you should notify your landlord and also strongly consider contacting your city’s code enforcement department to have them come inspect. After that, you should strongly consider hiring a mold testing company to come test the levels of mold that are in your unit. And finally, no matter what, you should contact an attorney to understand your rights and the damages you’re entitled to.
