I think I just have this genetic draw to the water. And so all of my life, I always wanted to be by the ocean. Right out of high school, I enlisted in the Coast Guard. And I spent five years there doing marine law enforcement and search and rescue. In the Coast Guard, I just learned how fulfilling it can be to serve and to do good and help other people. So that helped shape me and kind of guided me towards practicing law.
The other way I was kind of shaped in the Coast Guard was that I suffered an injury in the Coast Guard myself. I was jumping from a ship and I injured my right shoulder, which required surgery. The surgery did not go well and it was a very blatant act of medical malpractice and so that kind of to me is like I don’t want other people that bad things happen to them and not have a remedy. And so that helped guide me towards the law also.
I view every person that I represent as a personal matter. I will tap into my own pain so that I can relate to theirs and I can communicate their pain to others. I will be their never-ending warrior and I will never stop fighting for them.
