How Can I Tell if I Have Suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury? If I Have, What’s Next?

What happens very frequently with TBI cases that we do in this office is that people come to the office and they’re talking about some other part of their body. And they know that they lost consciousness and they know that they’re having some difficulty with remembering and things like that. But they actually don’t identify themselves as having a traumatic brain injury. And so that’s one of the things that we flush out with people is we start by talking to them and asking them about those particular issues. But everybody always wants to know, am I going to get better? Is this going to go away? How am I going to live in my life with this? And unfortunately, the answer always is it will take at least one year before you know what your residual injury is going to be. You have to go with a lawyer that’s going to properly staff your case, that’s going to have patience, and that’s going to fully investigate your injury before even thinking about any of those decisions.
