There are only a handful of reasons that a landlord can evict a tenant in California. And a tenant complaining about unsafe conditions in their unit is not one of them. If your landlord tries to evict you for complaining about conditions in your rental unit or for asking for repairs, then your landlord likely has committed a violation of the law that’s going to entitle you to damages for unlawful eviction.
