What Are an Employee’s Rights Regarding Overtime Pay in California?

In California, the standard is that an employee must be paid overtime. It means time and a half of their regular wage. They must be paid that if they work more than 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week. If an employee works more than 8 hours a day, but they don’t work 40 hours a week, they’re entitled to overtime. If an employee works, let’s say, six hours per day, but it’s seven days a week, if they hit in excess of 40 hours, then they are entitled to overtime. So, California is quite liberal and quite strong in terms of their overtime protections for employees.
