Meet the Team at Venardi Zurada, LLP
Andrea Pearce, Associate Attorney
Andrea Pearce is a law clerk in the Redding office at Venardi Zurada LLP, focusing on employment rights and personal injury. Andrea is fluent in Spanish and conversational in Portuguese.
Andrea and her family migrated from Mexico when she was 8 years old. To pay for college, Andrea worked as a professional vocalist and violinist for Mariachi Aguilas de Contra Costa. Andrea earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Minor in Latin American Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles and continued to be an avid musician in various ensembles including Mariachi UCLAtlan, BatUCLAda Brazilian ensemble, University Choir, and Women’s Choir. She was honored at her 2010 UCLA Commencement as a John Wooden Leader of Student Activism for her work at the City of Los Angeles Office of Disability.
After graduation Andrea moved to Redding, CA, where was an education and healthcare advocate for children and families with special needs in the North State serving 26 rural California Counties. This experience highlighted the lack of resources faced by rural communities much like the immigrant community she grew up with. She witnessed how individuals can be exploited or disadvantaged because of their income, language ability, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, and/or immigration status. The culmination of these experiences motivated Andrea to pursue a career in law to fight for marginalized communities.
Andrea attended UC Hastings College of the Law where she was Co-Chair of the La Raza Law Students Association and a staff editor of the Hastings Business Law Journal. In her first year she received the Hastings Public Interest Law Foundation Grant for her internship at Legal Services of Northern California in Redding, CA. Andrea then clerked for the Honorable Monica Wiley and the Honorable Gail Dekreon at the San Francisco Unified Family Court. Andrea graduated with her Juris Doctorate in 2017 and presented her thesis on Income Inequality in California at the request of the California Senate Office of Research.
During law school Andrea was an intern at Venardi Zurada where she discovered her passion for workers’ rights. The legal skills and exceptional client representation she learned at Venardi Zurada propelled Andrea to receive the Ralph Abascal Fellowship. As a Fellow at California Rural Legal Assistance, Inc. she focused on wage and hour violations, employment discrimination, workplace sexual harassment, and unemployment benefits claims. In the field, Andrea created and conducted workplace sexual harassment presentations in Spanish to farmworkers throughout the Central Valley.
Andrea is excited to continue the fight for justice representing California’s diverse communities with Venardi Zurada. In her spare time, she loves to spend time outdoors hiking and camping throughout our beautiful state with her husband, Shawn. At home she helps care for her brother-in-law who experienced a Traumatic Brain Injury from an automobile accident. As a family they enjoy tennis, golf, swimming, and cycling throughout the North State.
